CAP4Us
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for the Underserved

Our Mission
CAP4Us is addressing the critical gap in available psychiatric professionals to meet the behavioral and mental health needs of children and youth impacted by the child welfare system. The program combines specialized training, unique interaction with individuals with lived experience, and tuition repayment to build a pipeline of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists ready to help our most vulnerable young people heal from trauma and realize their full potential.
Our Approach
Develop a new one-year post-fellowship training program for Child an Adolescent Psychiatrists addressing severe childhood trauma and cultivating necessary skills, including, managing their own secondary trauma
Create fellowship positions in partnership with major training programs at hospitals in New York City to increase the pool of CAPs serving vulnerable children and youth
Implement a contract-based commitment to serve the child welfare population post-fellowship and receive student loan repayment while serving at a qualified child welfare organization
